Mystery Shows in the Fall 2018 Network TV Schedule

If you’re in the U.S., it looks like CBS will be the network to watch for new mystery and crime TV shows this fall. While American network mysteries are overdramatic, oversimplified, and action-focused compared to British mystery television, there are still a couple shows that are a fun escape. Here is the rundown of the mystery shows we’ll be watching.

MONDAY

Magnum P.I., 9pm ET on CBS
Tom Selleck’s (Blue Bloods) classic American action-mystery show gets an updated reboot.

Bull, 10pm ET on CBS
NCIS alum Michael Weatherly and his team of trial consultants return for a second season.

TUESDAY
NCIS, 8pm ET on CBS
A longtime network darling, NCIS will return for its 16th season, sadly sans Abby Sciuto, the team’s crack forensic genius.

FBI, 9pm ET on CBS
This new police mystery drama from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf looks interesting, almost like the old franchise without the courtroom drama.

NCIS: New Orleans, 10pm ET on CBS
Special Agent Dwayne Pride returns for a fourth season in the Big Easy.

WEDNESDAY
Chicago P.D., 10pm ET on NBC
Dick Wolf rules Wednesday nights on NBC. Catch the fifth season of the police drama Chicago PD following episodes of Chicago Med and Chicago Fire.

THURSDAY
How to Get Away with Murder, 10pm ET on ABC
The brilliantly evil Annalise Keating returns for more twists and turns in the fifth season of this Shonda Rhimes’ mystery drama.

FRIDAY
Blue Bloods, 10pm ET on CBS
While we’re hoping for a Tom Selleck cameo on the new Magnum P.I., we’ll still be able to see him as Police Commissioner Reagan in the ninth season of Blue Bloods.

Dateline, 10pm ET on NBC
Real life meets real crime on NBC’s magazine show that features mostly true crime stories.

SATURDAY
Dateline Saturday Night Mystery, 8-10pm ET on NBC
Didn’t get enough real life mysteries on Friday night, no worries, watch two more hours on Saturday night.

48 Hours, 10pm ET on CBS
When you’re done with Dateline, flip to CBS for a bonus mystery hour of 48 Hours. Double bonus if Keith Morrison is narrating.

SUNDAY
NCIS: Los Angeles, 9pm ET on CBS
Can’t get enough NCIS? Grab your sunscreen, because the LA crime scene is hot!

PBS Masterpiece, TBD
While the PBS hasn’t posted the Fall 2018 schedule, we’re hoping that there are some good British mystery imports waiting for us!
