Murder and mayhem abound in Midsomer Murders, a dark and cheeky British whodunit series that has been killing off unwitting villagers for more than twenty years. One of my favorite comfort cozy mysteries, the show follows DCI Barnaby (John Nettles) and his young sergeant as they investigate absurd, over-the-top deaths in the bucolic Midsomer county. The first few seasons are deliciously well-done village mysteries, however, once Tom Barnaby retires and his cousin John (Neil Dudgeon, Mrs. Bradley Mysteries) steps in, the show becomes a bit less sinister. This beloved show is based on the books by Caroline Graham and is one of the longest-running shows in the UK.
